Fennel 'Sirio'

Foeniculum vulgare

How to grow Fennel 'Sirio'

  • Full Sun

  • Medium

A full sun position will ensure your plant thrives and remember to water moderately. Keep in mind when planting that Sirio is thought of as hardy, so it can be safe to leave outdoors for the majority of winter (although if in doubt, using a row cover is often a good idea). A soil ph of between 6.1 and 7.8 is ideal for Sirio as it does best in weakly acidic soil - weakly alkaline soil.

Growing Sirio from seed

Aim to sow 0.25 inches (0.64 cm) deep and try to ensure a gap of at least 0.98 inches (2.5 cm).

Transplanting Sirio

As Sirio is hardy, ensure temperatures are mild enough to plant out - wait until after your last frost date to be on the safe side.
