How to grow Romaine lettuce 'Attico'

  • Partial Sun

  • High

Try to plant in a location that enjoys partial sun and remember to water often. Keep in mind when planting that Attico is thought of as tender, so remember to wait until your soil is warm and the night time temperature is well above freezing before moving outside. Ideally plant in loamy, potting mix and clay soil and try to keep the ph of your soil between the range of 6.2 and 6.8 as Attico likes to be in weakly acidic soil.

Growing Attico from seed

Try to aim for a seed spacing of at least 11.7 inches (30.0 cm) and sow at a depth of around 0.23 inches (0.6 cm). Soil temperature should be kept higher than 5°C / 41°F to ensure good germination.

By our calculations, you should look at sowing Attico about 60 days before your last frost date.

Transplanting Attico

Ensure that temperatures are mild and all chance of frost has passed before planting out, as Attico is a tender plant.
