How to grow Beetroot 'Sangria'

  • Full Sun

  • Medium

Sangria likes a position of full sun and remember to water moderately. Keep in mind when planting that Sangria is thought of as half hardy, so it will require protection in frosts and low temperatures. Ideally plant in loamy soil and try to keep the ph of your soil between the range of 6.5 and 7.0 as Sangria likes to be in weakly acidic soil to neutral soil.

Growing Sangria from seed

Sow at a depth of approx. 0.74 inches (1.9 cm) and aim for a distance of at least 0.98 inches (2.5 cm) between Beetroot plants. Soil temperature should be kept higher than 4°C / 39°F to ensure good germination.

By our calculations, you should look at sowing Sangria about 14 days before your last frost date.

Transplanting Sangria

Ensure that temperatures are mild and all chance of frost has passed before planting out, as Sangria is a half hardy plant.
