How to grow Beetroot 'Saccherifera'

  • Full Sun

  • Medium

Try to plant in a location that enjoys full sun and remember to water moderately. Keep in mind when planting that Saccherifera is thought of as half hardy, so protect with a row cover whenever the temperatures drop. Saccherifera needs a loamy soil with a ph of 6.5 to 7.0 (weakly acidic soil to neutral soil).

Growing Saccherifera from seed

Try to aim for a seed spacing of at least 5.85 inches (15.0 cm) and sow at a depth of around 0.78 inches (2.0 cm). Soil temperature should be kept higher than 13°C / 55°F to ensure good germination.

By our calculations, you should look at sowing Saccherifera about 14 days before your last frost date.

Transplanting Saccherifera

Ensure that temperatures are mild and all chance of frost has passed before planting out, as Saccherifera is a half hardy plant.
