How to grow Spearmint 'Austrian'

  • Partial Sun

  • Medium

Try to plant in a location that enjoys partial sun and remember to water moderately. Keep in mind when planting that Austrian is thought of as hardy, so it can be safe to leave outdoors for the majority of winter (although if in doubt, using a row cover is often a good idea). Planting Austrian in loamy, potting mix and clay soil with a ph of between 6.5 and 7.0 is ideal for as it does best in weakly acidic soil to neutral soil.

Growing Austrian from seed

Aim to sow 0.23 inches (0.6 cm) deep and try to ensure a gap of at least 11.7 inches (30.0 cm).

Transplanting Austrian

As Austrian is hardy, ensure temperatures are mild enough to plant out - wait until after your last frost date to be on the safe side.
