How to grow Cauliflower 'Chester F1'

  • Full Sun

  • Medium

Try to plant in a location that enjoys full sun and remember to water moderately. Keep in mind when planting that Chester F1 is thought of as hardy, so it can be safe to leave outdoors for the majority of winter (although if in doubt, using a row cover is often a good idea). A soil ph of between 6.5 and 7.0 is ideal for Chester F1 as it does best in weakly acidic soil - neutral soil.

Growing Chester F1 from seed

Aim to sow 0.58 inches (1.5 cm) deep and try to ensure a gap of at least 3.12 inches (8.0 cm). Soil temperature should be kept higher than 24°C / 75°F to ensure good germination.

By our calculations, you should look at sowing Chester F1 about 14 days before your last frost date.

Transplanting Chester F1

As Chester F1 is hardy, ensure temperatures are mild enough to plant out - wait until after your last frost date to be on the safe side.
