How to grow Melon 'Sivan'

  • Full Sun

  • High

A full sun position will ensure your plant thrives and remember to water often. Keep in mind when planting that Sivan is thought of as hardy, so it can be safe to leave outdoors for the majority of winter (although if in doubt, using a row cover is often a good idea). Ideally plant in potting mix and loamy soil and try to keep the ph of your soil between the range of 6.1 and 7.5 as Sivan likes to be in weakly acidic soil to weakly alkaline soil.

Growing Sivan from seed

Aim to sow 0.5 inches (1.27 cm) deep and try to ensure a gap of at least 1.88 feet (58.0 cm). Soil temperature should be kept higher than 21°C / 70°F to ensure good germination.

By our calculations, you should look at sowing Sivan about 14 days before your last frost date.

Transplanting Sivan

Ensure that temperatures are mild and all chance of frost has passed before planting out, as Sivan is a hardy plant.
