How to grow Melon 'Bastion'

  • Full Sun

  • High

Try to plant in a location that enjoys full sun and remember to water often. Keep in mind when planting that Bastion is thought of as hardy, so this plant will survive close to or on freezing temperatures. Planting Bastion in potting mix and loamy soil with a ph of between 6.1 and 7.5 is ideal for as it does best in weakly acidic soil to weakly alkaline soil.

Growing Bastion from seed

Try to aim for a seed spacing of at least 1.88 feet (58.0 cm) and sow at a depth of around 0.5 inches (1.27 cm). Soil temperature should be kept higher than 21°C / 70°F to ensure good germination.

By our calculations, you should look at sowing Bastion about 14 days before your last frost date.

Transplanting Bastion

As Bastion is hardy, ensure temperatures are mild enough to plant out - wait until after your last frost date to be on the safe side.
