How to grow Watermelon 'Siberian'

  • Full Sun

Keep in mind when planting that Siberian is thought of as tender, so remember to wait until your soil is warm and the night time temperature is well above freezing before moving outside. Siberian tends to grow best in a soil ph of between 6.5 and 7.5 meaning it does best in weakly acidic soil - weakly alkaline soil.

Growing Siberian from seed

Try to aim for a seed spacing of at least 8.12 feet (2.50 metres) and sow at a depth of around 0.39 inches (1.0 cm). Soil temperature should be kept higher than 16°C / 61°F to ensure good germination.

Transplanting Siberian

Ensure that temperatures are mild and all chance of frost has passed before planting out, as Siberian is a tender plant.
