Growing Rodgersia from seed

Sow the seeds in spring into pots using soil based compost and added grit. Add a layer of moss to the top and sow the seeds onto the moss, watering in well. Stand the pot in water so it remains wet at all times. Overwinter the first year in a cold frame

Soil temperature should be kept higher than 15°C / 59°F to ensure good germination.

Transplanting Rodgersia

It likes a moist soil by the edge of a pond or other damp place in sun or part shade. Plant out in the spring of its second year. As Rodgersia is hardy, ensure temperatures are mild enough to plant out - wait until after your last frost date to be on the safe side.
