How to grow Lupin 'Gallery Yellow'

Gallery yellow is a dwarf variety and should not need staking
Cut off faded flower stems to stop the seed pods from developing and to encourage further buds
Cover the crown with a mulch after cutting down in the late autumn

Plant in a location that enjoys partial sun and remember to water moderately. Keep in mind when planting that Gallery Yellow is thought of as hardy, so Gallery Yellow will tend to go dormant or grow slowly over the winter months.

Growing Gallery Yellow from seed

Lupins are easily grown from seed and can be started in spring summer or autumn. Soak the seeds for 24 hours in water before planting them in pots or modules

Look to ensure a distance 0.78 inches (2.0 cm) between seeds when sowing - bury at a depth of at least 0.2 inches (0.5 cm) deep. Soil temperature should be kept higher than 10°C / 50°F to ensure good germination.

Transplanting Gallery Yellow

Pot on individually and continue to grow on in sheltered conditions, planting out into the final flowering position in the autumn, or for autumn started plants the following spring.
Choose a sunny well drained sheltered spot at the middle to the back of the border.

Ensure that temperatures are mild and all chance of frost has passed before planting out, as Gallery Yellow is a hardy plant.

Harvesting Gallery Yellow

Lupin spires can be cut for arranging and are best picked when about a third of the buds are open

This variety tends to be ready for harvesting by mid summer.
