How to grow Spinach 'Toscana'

  • Full Sun

  • Low

Enjoys a full sun position in your garden and remember to apply water fairly sparingly. Keep in mind when planting that Toscana is thought of as half hardy, so remember to protect this plant from frosts and low temperatures. Toscana needs a loamy soil with a ph of 6.0 to 7.0 (weakly acidic soil to neutral soil).

Growing Toscana from seed

Try to aim for a seed spacing of at least 3.12 inches (8.0 cm) and sow at a depth of around 0.49 inches (1.25 cm). Soil temperature should be kept higher than 8°C / 46°F to ensure good germination.

By our calculations, you should look at sowing Toscana about 60 days before your last frost date.

Transplanting Toscana

Ensure that temperatures are mild (minimum night temperatures should be around 0°C / 32°F) and all chance of frost has passed before planting out, as Toscana is a half hardy plant.
