Spinach 'Viking'

Try to plant in a location that enjoys full sun and remember to apply water fairly sparingly. Keep in mind when planting that Viking is thought of as half hardy, so it will need protecting in periods of cold weather. Planting Viking in loamy soil with a ph of between 6.0 and 7.0 is ideal for as it does best in weakly acidic soil to neutral soil.

Aim to sow 0.49 inches (1.25 cm) deep and try to ensure a gap of at least 3.12 inches (8.0 cm). Soil temperature should be kept higher than 8°C / 46°F to ensure good germination.

By our calculations, you should look at sowing Viking about 60 days before your last frost date.

As Viking is half hardy, ensure temperatures are mild enough to plant out (around 0°C / 32°F as a guideline) - wait until after your last frost date to be on the safe side.
