How to grow Spinach 'Norfolk'

  • Partial Sun

  • Medium

Try to plant in a location that enjoys partial sun and remember to water moderately. Keep in mind when planting that Norfolk is thought of as half hardy, so remember to protect this plant from frosts and low temperatures. Ideally plant in loamy soil and try to keep the ph of your soil between the range of 6.0 and 7.0 as Norfolk likes to be in weakly acidic soil to neutral soil.

Growing Norfolk from seed

Better germination rate at lower temperatures. At higher temperatures, germinates faster but at lower rate. For best germination, sow at 15°C.

Try to aim for a seed spacing of at least 3.12 inches (8.0 cm) and sow at a depth of around 0.2 inches (0.5 cm). Soil temperature should be kept higher than 8°C / 46°F to ensure good germination.

By our calculations, you should look at sowing Norfolk about 60 days before your last frost date.

Transplanting Norfolk

Ensure that temperatures are mild (minimum night temperatures should be around 0°C / 32°F) and all chance of frost has passed before planting out, as Norfolk is a half hardy plant.
