This plant is considered invasive in warmer climates.

In the spring before it breaks dormancy, cut back to about 15cm from the ground. Also can be divided at this time of year. The canes are very hard and dividing requires a sharp shovel or axe to chop through the mass. The roots don’t grow very deep so lifting is relatively easy.
