Although cinnamon will grow in a wide variety of soil types, one rich in organic matter will produce higher quality cinnamon.
Cinnamon grows best in a hot, humid, tropical climate that experiences an average temperature of 27 deg C (80 deg F). Normally a rain fed crop in its native habitat, it prefers an annual rainfall of 200 to 250mm ¹. Most of this rain should fall within the narrow window of the monsoon season. An extended dry season will most likely promote growth and flowering.
