This is a great tree to use as a hedge. It can be pruned as tall as you want it during the spring. They will be happy if fertilized in spring, summer and fall with a general purpose fertilizer. When first planting they will benefit if you add some top soil or organic peat moss and composted cow manure to the hole. Plant them 3 feet apart.
