Plant in a location that enjoys partial sun and remember to water often. Keep in mind when planting that French Crisp is thought of as tender, so it is imperative to wait until temperatures are mild before planting out of doors. Ensure your soil is loamy and has a ph of between 6.2 and 6.8 as Lettuce is a weakly acidic soil loving plant.

Growing French Crisp from seed

Sowing outdoors: Cover seeds lightly and press down. Thin as soon as seedlings show 2-3 true leaves.
Growing tips: Can germinate when soil temp. is 40 F and best when air temp. is 60-70 F.
Lettuces need at least 6" deep pots, but is a good container crop.

Ensure a distance of 5.85 inches (15.0 cm) between seeds when sowing - look to sow at a depth of approximately 0.49 inches (1.25 cm). Soil temperature should be kept higher than 5°C / 41°F to ensure good germination.

Transplanting French Crisp

Sowing indoors: Sow 3-4 seeds per inch in seedling mix about 3 weeks prior to planting outside. Two weeks after seeding, lettuce can be transplanted into individual pots. Harden off 2-3 days before planting out. To harden off, set plants outside in sheltered area and reduce amount of water.

Ensure that temperatures are mild and all chance of frost has passed before planting out, as French Crisp is a tender plant.
