How to grow Thyme 'Pinewood'

  • Full Sun

  • Low

Try to plant in a location that enjoys full sun and remember to apply water fairly sparingly. Keep in mind when planting that Pinewood is thought of as hardy, so it can be safe to leave outdoors for the majority of winter (although if in doubt, using a row cover is often a good idea). Planting Pinewood in sandy soil with a ph of between 6.0 and 7.0 is ideal for as it does best in weakly acidic soil to neutral soil.

Growing Pinewood from seed

Look to ensure a distance 11.7 inches (30.0 cm) between Pinewood seeds when sowing to make sure your seedlings have enough space. Soil temperature should be kept higher than 21°C / 70°F to ensure good germination.

By our calculations, you should look at sowing Pinewood about 42 days before your last frost date.

Transplanting Pinewood

As Pinewood is hardy, ensure temperatures are mild enough to plant out - wait until after your last frost date to be on the safe side.
