How to grow Pea 'Duke'

  • Partial Sun

  • Very High

Try to plant in a location that enjoys partial sun and remember to water very often. Keep in mind when planting that Duke is thought of as half hardy, so remember to protect this plant from frosts and low temperatures. Planting Duke in loamy soil with a ph of between 5.5 and 6.5 is ideal for as it does best in weakly acidic soil.

Growing Duke from seed

Try to aim for a seed spacing of at least 2.97 inches (7.62 cm) and sow at a depth of around 0.99 inches (2.54 cm). Soil temperature should be kept higher than 4°C / 39°F to ensure good germination.

By our calculations, you should look at sowing Duke about 35 days before your last frost date.

Transplanting Duke

As Duke is half hardy, ensure temperatures are mild enough to plant out - wait until after your last frost date to be on the safe side.
