Pea 'Sandy'

Pisum sativum

How to grow Pea 'Sandy'

  • Partial Sun

  • Very High

Try to plant in a location that enjoys partial sun and remember to water very often. Keep in mind when planting that Sandy is thought of as half hardy, so it will require protection in frosts and low temperatures. Planting Sandy in loamy soil with a ph of between 5.5 and 6.5 is ideal for as it does best in weakly acidic soil.

Growing Sandy from seed

Sow at a depth of approx. 0.99 inches (2.54 cm) and aim for a distance of at least 2.97 inches (7.62 cm) between Pea plants. Soil temperature should be kept higher than 4°C / 39°F to ensure good germination.

By our calculations, you should look at sowing Sandy about 35 days before your last frost date.

Transplanting Sandy

As Sandy is half hardy, ensure temperatures are mild enough to plant out - wait until after your last frost date to be on the safe side.
