How to grow Guzmania

Guzmania

Being Epiphytic Bromeliads Guzmanias prefer dappled sunlight or shade. They can also do well if tied on to a piece of bark with their roots bound into a little sphagnum moss.

Growing Guzmania from seed

Can be easily grown from offshoots which form around the base of the plant.

Soil temperature should be kept higher than 25°C / 77°F to ensure good germination.

Transplanting Guzmania

Needs very little compost but must not be kept in standing water or it will rot.

Ensure that temperatures are mild (minimum night temperatures should be around 15°C / 59°F) and all chance of frost has passed before planting out, as Guzmania is a tender plant.
