How to grow Bean 'Flageolet'

  • Full Sun

  • Medium

Enjoys a full sun position in your garden and remember to water moderately. Keep in mind when planting that Flageolet is thought of as tender, so it is really important to plant out well after your last frost date. A soil ph of between 6.0 and 6.8 is ideal for Flageolet as it does best in weakly acidic soil.

Growing Flageolet from seed

Sow at a depth of approx. 1.95 inches (5.0 cm) and aim for a distance of at least 3.9 inches (10.0 cm) between Bean plants. Soil temperature should be kept higher than 16°C / 61°F to ensure good germination.

By our calculations, you should look at sowing Flageolet about 14 days after your last frost date.

Transplanting Flageolet

As Flageolet is tender, ensure temperatures are mild enough to plant out - wait until after your last frost date to be on the safe side.
