How to grow Coneflower 'Alba'

  • Full Sun

  • Low

Try to plant in a location that enjoys full sun and remember to apply water fairly sparingly. Keep in mind when planting that Alba is thought of as half hardy, so it will require protection in frosts and low temperatures. A soil ph of between 6.0 and 8.0 is ideal for Alba as it does best in weakly acidic soil - weakly alkaline soil.

Growing Alba from seed

Sow at a depth of approx. 0.2 inches (0.5 cm) and aim for a distance of at least 1.95 feet (60.0 cm) between Coneflower plants. Soil temperature should be kept higher than 25°C / 77°F to ensure good germination.

By our calculations, you should look at sowing Alba about 56 days before your last frost date.

Transplanting Alba

As Alba is half hardy, ensure temperatures are mild enough to plant out - wait until after your last frost date to be on the safe side.
