How to grow Bougainvillea 'Raspberry ice'

Can be grown as a mound and the canes will cascade and produce red-pinkish flowers. In zone 9 I grow this plant and make sure that mulch is added around the base at the rate of 3 to six inches deep. This will insure that the roots are protected from cold in the winter. In zone 9 these plant loses its leaves but quickly recovers soon after the temperatures warm up.

Pruning is best done after a flowering cycle is completed. These plants can take hard pruning if growth is excessive.

The best flowering occurs when plants are stressed with dryness.

Try to plant in a location that enjoys full sun and remember to water moderately. Keep in mind when planting that Raspberry ice is thought of as hardy, so this plant will survive close to or on freezing temperatures.
