Will grow in any well drained soil in full sun, do not overwater.1 Will grow quickly in 2nd part of first year, will be slow other times.1 May be shortlived.1
Soak seeds in hot water for around 30 minutes prior to planting, and surface sow on a well drained seed compost. (you may need to add some sand and or perlite to a standard compost mix). LIGHTLY cover with compost, and keep in the light. Keep the soil moist, not wet, as the seedlings are susceptible to damping off problems. Seedlings become much tougher once the 3rd or 4th set of true leaves appear. Keep temperatures at around 21 – 25°C, seal in a plastic bag is often helpful, but watch for germinated seeds as this can be detrimental to seeds which have already germinated. Germination should take around 21-30 day, but up to 90 days is not uncommon.Seeds in the spring. It is best to propagate seeds in a mixture of moist peat and perlite. Cover the pot and plant with a plastic bag secured by a rubber band to prevent the moisture from escaping. Place in indirect sunlight or under a fluorescent light. Repot in its regular mix after it has been growing for a while.
**
May flower at any time of year, or all year long.1 Can produce hundreds of seeds per year.1 Pollinated by wind and insects.1 Pretreat seeds in tepid water overnight.1
Try to aim for a seed spacing of at least 1.95 feet (60.0 cm) and sow at a depth of around 0.37 inches (0.95 cm). Soil temperature should be kept higher than 20°C / 68°F to ensure good germination.By our calculations*, you should look at sowing Sensitive plant about 0 days after your last frost date .
