" ‘Blairii No. 1’ usually gets tagged to 1845 or 1844; but the Floricultural Cabinet is talking about it in 1837, and lo and behold [Thomas] Rivers [1837 catalog] offers it (construing his ‘Blairii’ as ‘Blairii No. 1’) in 1837. Consequently, we can attribute and date it as “Blair, -1837” (or even “Blair/Rivers, -1837” should anyone want to live on the edge)". 1
