Invasive which should not be planted outside its native range 1
Cherry Laurel is invading forrest in the pacific north west of USA, Jamaica and parts of Australia
It does not seem to be a problem in the UK and is sold from nurseries and garden centres as a shrub or hedging plant.. Plant in part sun or dappled shade and water well during the first years.
Quickly establishes into a thick hedge or shrub. If the hedge requires clipping, do this with secatures, taking back individual branches to the required length, rather than with hedge trimmers as the large leaves if cut will brown and spoil the green appearance
Can be an invasive species, but many of the cultivated species appear to be non invasive.
Usually propagated from semi ripe cuttings in the autumn
Can tolerate full sun, part sun or dappled shad.
Water well during the first season
Makes a good thick hedge
Can be an invasive species
These estimates for how long Cherry laurel takes to sprout, grow and harvest are from real observations from real gardeners, right around the world.
