How to grow Heart Leaf Philodendron

Philodendron scandens

This is a very easy houseplant – or outdoor grower in higher zones (9+). It will climb if given opportunity and leaves will get much larger in these circumstances. Otherwise, leaves will stay small along a creeping or hanging vine.

If grown up or allowed to climb a wall or tree the leaves keep getting bigger.

When growing in a container indoors, pinch your plant to allow it to branch; otherwise it will grow with a single long stem. Always pinch above a leaf node. A new stem will grow from that node.

Feed monthly spring through fall with a balanced liquid fertilizer.
