'Night-Scented Stock' is a plant in the Matthiola genus with a scientific name of Matthiola longipetala ssp. bicornis.

Night scented stock has soft sea green lanceolate leaves and pretty light coloured flowers, lilac and cream, grown mainly for their perfume, or as a cut flower.

Blooms typically mature to a diameter of 2.0 cm (0.78 inches imperial) and produce a cloves/vanilla fragrance, whilst displaying in these approximate colours:   Floral white and   Pink lace and   Rich brilliant lavender. The mature flowers take a clustered form, with an approximate petal count of 4. When ripe, fruit appear in these approximate colours:   Buff and   Sandy brown. Try to plant in a location that enjoys full sun / partial sun and remember to apply water fairly sparingly. Ideally plant in loamy, clay and silty soil and try to keep the ph of your soil between the range of 6.6 and 7.8 as Night-Scented Stock likes to be in weakly acidic soil - weakly alkaline soil.
