Tomato Emmy Etymology

Emmy fled Romania to Germany at the end of WWI!, taking a tomato from her Romanian garden with her. She gave seeds to Ernestine and Richard Bloomberg, Americans living in Germany, in 1978. Upon their return to the US, they grew and saved seeds from the variety since 1979. They donated seeds to Seed Savers Exchange in 2005. SSE then grew them out for several years before offering them to the public in 2012. The variety is named after the original source of the seed.12
