How to grow Tomato 'Red pearl'

  • Full Sun

  • Medium

This is a dwarf variety, so it works well in containers. No staking needed!

Try to plant in a location that enjoys full sun and remember to water moderately. Keep in mind when planting that Red pearl is thought of as tender, so it is imperative to wait until temperatures are mild before planting out of doors. Ensure your soil is loamy and has a ph of between 5.5 and 7.5 as Tomato is a weakly acidic soil to weakly alkaline soil loving plant.

Growing Red pearl from seed

Start seeds indoors six weeks before last frost date.

Ensure a distance of 0.78 inches (2.0 cm) between seeds when sowing - look to sow at a depth of approximately 0.39 inches (1.0 cm). Soil temperature should be kept higher than 12°C / 54°F to ensure good germination.

Transplanting Red pearl

Transplant when the tomato seedling reaches 6-inches tall. Plant to first set of leaves to promote strong root growth.

Ensure that temperatures are mild and all chance of frost has passed before planting out, as Red pearl is a tender plant.

Harvesting Red pearl

This variety tends to be ready for harvesting by mid summer.
