How to grow Onion 'Turbo'

  • Full Sun

  • Medium

Plant in a location that enjoys full sun and remember to water moderately. Keep in mind when planting that Turbo is thought of as very hardy, so this plant will tend to go dormant over the long winter months. Planting Turbo in loamy, clay and sandy soil with a ph of between 6.0 and 7.0 is ideal for as it does best in weakly acidic soil to neutral soil.

Growing Turbo from seed

Aim to sow 0.98 inches (2.5 cm) deep and try to ensure a gap of at least 1.95 inches (5.0 cm). Soil temperature should be kept higher than 13°C / 55°F to ensure good germination.

By our calculations, you should look at sowing Turbo about 28 days before your last frost date.

Transplanting Turbo

As Turbo is very hardy, ensure temperatures are mild enough to plant out - wait until after your last frost date to be on the safe side.
