How to grow Calla lily 'Picasso'

  • Dappled Sun

  • Medium

This is not completely hardy and needs a deep mulch to cover it for protection, or if container grown put in a cold frame.

Try to plant in a location that enjoys dappled sun and remember to water moderately. Keep in mind when planting that Picasso is thought of as half hardy, so remember to protect this plant from frosts and low temperatures.

Growing Picasso from seed

Sow seed in a peat based compost and keep the seed damp and covered. Can take up to 3 months

Soil temperature should be kept higher than 20°C / 68°F to ensure good germination.

Transplanting Picasso

Grow on under protection until well established before choosing a shady damp spot for its final home

As Picasso is half hardy, ensure temperatures are mild enough to plant out - wait until after your last frost date to be on the safe side.
