Chard 'Vulcan Red'

Vulcan Red likes a position of full sun and remember to water moderately. Keep in mind when planting that Vulcan Red is thought of as very hardy, so this plant will tend to survive through freezing conditions. Vulcan Red requires a loamy and clay soil with a ph of 6.1 - 7.5 - it grows best in weakly acidic soil to weakly alkaline soil.

Try to aim for a seed spacing of at least 0.39 inches (1.0 cm) and sow at a depth of around 0.39 inches (1.0 cm). Soil temperature should be kept higher than 10°C / 50°F to ensure good germination.

Ensure that temperatures are mild and all chance of frost has passed before planting out, as Vulcan Red is a very hardy plant.
