How to grow Potato 'Warba'

Plant in a location that enjoys partial sun and remember to water moderately. Keep in mind when planting that Warba is thought of as tender, so remember to wait until your soil is warm and the night time temperature is well above freezing before moving outside. Warba requires a loamy and clay soil with a ph of 5.0 - 6.0 - it grows best in moderately acidic soil to weakly acidic soil.

Growing Warba from seed

Potatoes are generally grown from the eyes of another potato and not from seed.

Try to aim for a seed spacing of at least 7.8 inches (20.0 cm) and sow at a depth of around 5.85 inches (15.0 cm). Soil temperature should be kept higher than 5°C / 41°F to ensure good germination.

This potato was originally bred in 1927 at the Minnesota Agricultural Experiment Station, St. Paul, Minnesota. Comes from a cross of Triumph x Minn. 4-16.


This was one of the few varieties of potatoes that produced consistantly during a drought in 1936.
