How to grow Chili pepper 'Pimiento'

  • Full Sun

  • Medium

Try to plant in a location that enjoys full sun and remember to water moderately. Keep in mind when planting that Pimiento is thought of as half hardy, so although it can survive a small mild cold snap, it is wise to ensure that this plant is protected from frost damage. Planting Pimiento in loamy and sandy soil with a ph of between 7.0 and 8.5 is ideal for as it does best in neutral soil to weakly alkaline soil.

Growing Pimiento from seed

Sow 0.2 inches (0.5 cm) deep with a guideline distance of 1.95 inches (5.0 cm). Soil temperature should be kept higher than 18°C / 64°F to ensure good germination.

By our calculations, you should look at sowing Pimiento about 38 days before your last frost date.

Transplanting Pimiento

As Pimiento is half hardy, ensure temperatures are mild enough to plant out - wait until after your last frost date to be on the safe side.
