How to grow Winter squash 'Full Moon'

  • Full Sun

  • Medium

Control of cucumber beetles, squash bugs and vine borers is important. Control of cucumber beetles early in the season is VERY important because they spread bacterial wilt disease.

Try to plant in a location that enjoys full sun and remember to water moderately. Keep in mind when planting that Full Moon is thought of as tender, so it is really important to ensure that the outside temperature is well above freezing before planting or moving outdoors. Ensure your soil has a ph of between 6.1 and 7.5 as Full Moon is a weakly acidic soil - weakly alkaline soil loving plant.

Growing Full Moon from seed

Look to ensure a distance 2.28 feet (70.0 cm) between seeds when sowing - bury at a depth of at least 1.17 inches (3.0 cm) deep. Soil temperature should be kept higher than 21°C / 70°F to ensure good germination.

Transplanting Full Moon

Ensure that temperatures are mild and all chance of frost has passed before planting out, as Full Moon is a tender plant.

Harvesting Full Moon

This variety tends to be ready for harvesting by mid autumn.
