Mulch to control weeds
Ready to harvest in fall when rind cannot be dented with fingernail.

Try to plant in a location that enjoys full sun and remember to water moderately. Keep in mind when planting that Casper is thought of as hardy, so this plant will survive close to or on freezing temperatures. A soil ph of between 6.5 and 7.0 is ideal for Casper as it does best in weakly acidic soil - neutral soil.

Growing Casper from seed

Try to aim for a seed spacing of at least 4.94 feet (1.52 metres) and sow at a depth of around 1.17 inches (3.0 cm). Soil temperature should be kept higher than 21°C / 70°F to ensure good germination.

By our calculations, you should look at sowing Casper about 14 days before your last frost date.

Transplanting Casper

7-10 days to germinate
105 days to harvest
plant 1" deep
Space 5 ft / 5ft or Plant 3 per hill, when plants are 3" high thin to 2 per hill.

As Casper is hardy, ensure temperatures are mild enough to plant out - wait until after your last frost date to be on the safe side.

Harvesting Casper

This variety tends to be ready for harvesting by mid autumn.
