Try to plant in a location that enjoys full sun and remember to water often. Keep in mind when planting that Early Xtra-Sweet is thought of as tender, so remember to wait until your soil is warm and the night time temperature is well above freezing before moving outside. Early Xtra-Sweet needs a loamy and clay soil with a ph of 6.5 to 7.5 (weakly acidic soil to weakly alkaline soil).

Try to aim for a seed spacing of at least 7.8 inches (20.0 cm) and sow at a depth of around 1.17 inches (3.0 cm). Soil temperature should be kept higher than 21°C / 70°F to ensure good germination.
