How to grow Bearded iris 'Blue Shades'

Try to plant in a location that enjoys partial sun and remember to apply water fairly sparingly. Keep in mind when planting that Blue Shades is thought of as half hardy, so remember to protect this plant from frosts and low temperatures. A soil ph of between 6.1 and 7.8 is ideal for Blue Shades as it does best in weakly acidic soil - weakly alkaline soil.

Growing Blue Shades from seed

1" deep, cover with soil

Try to aim for a seed spacing of at least 1.62 feet (50.0 cm) and sow at a depth of around 0.98 inches (2.5 cm).

Transplanting Blue Shades

As Blue Shades is half hardy, ensure temperatures are mild enough to plant out - wait until after your last frost date to be on the safe side.
