How to grow Sunflower 'Jade'

  • Full Sun

  • High

A full sun position will ensure your plant thrives and remember to water often. Keep in mind when planting that Jade is thought of as half hardy, so it will need protecting in periods of cold weather. Planting Jade in loamy and clay soil with a ph of between 5.7 and 8.1 is ideal for as it does best in weakly acidic soil to weakly alkaline soil.

Growing Jade from seed

Aim to sow 0.49 inches (1.25 cm) deep and try to ensure a gap of at least 4.68 inches (12.0 cm). Soil temperature should be kept higher than 13°C / 55°F to ensure good germination.

By our calculations, you should look at sowing Jade about 21 days before your last frost date.

Transplanting Jade

As Jade is half hardy, ensure temperatures are mild enough to plant out - wait until after your last frost date to be on the safe side.
