How to grow Sunflower 'Aslan'

  • Full Sun

Outdoor sown seedlings should be thinned in stages to achieve a final spacing of 30 – 45 cm.

Aslan is generally regarded as a half hardy plant, so it will need protecting in periods of cold weather.

Growing Aslan from seed

For early blooms sow indoors in 10cm pots. Otherwise sow thinly outside direct where the plants are to grow.

Aim to sow 0.23 inches (0.6 cm) deep and try to ensure a gap of at least 11.7 inches (30.0 cm).

Transplanting Aslan

Indoor sown plants must be acclimatised to outdoor conditions before planting out in mid-late May.

Aslan is half hardy, so ensure you wait until all danger of frost has passed in your area before considering planting outside.
