Belonging to the Clematis genus, Passion flower clematis has a botanical name of Clematis florida.
A native to China it was cultivated in Japan as far back as the 1700s.1 It climbs by means of leaf petioles that twine round the supports.1 There are two common varieties: ‘flore-pleno’ or ‘Alba’, and ‘sieboldiana’ or ‘Sieboldii’.It grows mainly as a semi-evergreen, which means it will be evergreen in mild areas but otherwise deciduous. Passion flower clematis is known for growing with a vinelike habit to a height of approximately 3.05 metres (that's 9.91 feet in imperial). This plant tends to bloom in early summer.
