How to grow Rose 'Belle de Crécy'

  • Partial Sun

  • Medium

Feed twice a year in very early spring and mid summer. Prune lightly after flowers fade in the summer

Try to plant in a location that enjoys partial sun and remember to water moderately. Keep in mind when planting that Belle de Crécy is thought of as hardy, so this plant will survive close to or on freezing temperatures. Planting Belle de Crécy in loamy soil with a ph of between 5.5 and 6.5 is ideal for as it does best in weakly acidic soil.

Growing Belle de Crécy from seed

Not usually grown from seed and more usually grafted onto root stock. This is particularly important with Gallicia roses that would otherwise sucker inconveniently. Roses can be rooted from semi ripe cuttings with a heel in late spring or summer

Try to aim for a seed spacing of at least 3.96 feet (1.22 metres) and sow at a depth of around 0.25 inches (0.64 cm).

By our calculations, you should look at sowing Belle de Crécy about 35 days before your last frost date.

Transplanting Belle de Crécy

Plant out bare rooted stock in winter, keeping the graft below the soil level. Back fill with a little well rotted manure or blood fish and bone.
Also grows well on clay and prefers full sun

As Belle de Crécy is hardy, ensure temperatures are mild enough to plant out - wait until after your last frost date to be on the safe side.

Harvesting Belle de Crécy

Summer flowering, can be used as cut flowers. Fantastic perfume

This variety tends to be ready for harvesting by mid summer.
