Try to plant in a location that enjoys partial sun and remember to apply water fairly sparingly. Keep in mind when planting that Monterey is thought of as very hardy, so this plant will survive though longer winters with little or no damage. Monterey requires a loamy and sandy soil with a ph of 5.7 - 6.5 - it grows best in weakly acidic soil.

Growing Monterey from seed

Look to ensure a distance 1.17 inches (3.0 cm) between seeds when sowing - bury at a depth of at least 0.39 inches (1.0 cm) deep. Soil temperature should be kept higher than 10°C / 50°F to ensure good germination.

Transplanting Monterey

Ensure that temperatures are mild and all chance of frost has passed before planting out, as Monterey is a very hardy plant.
