Keep in mind when planting that Butter is thought of as very hardy, so this plant will tend to go dormant over the long winter months. Planting Butter in loamy and clay soil with a ph of between 6.5 and 7.2 is ideal for as it does best in weakly acidic soil to weakly alkaline soil.

Growing Butter from seed

Aim to sow 0.47 inches (1.2 cm) deep and try to ensure a gap of at least 1.95 inches (5.0 cm).

Transplanting Butter

As Butter is very hardy, ensure temperatures are mild enough to plant out - wait until after your last frost date to be on the safe side.
