How to grow Red Carpet Stonecrop 'Dragon's Blood'

  • Full Sun

  • Low

Plant in full sun with some afternoon shade. Plant in well prepared soil. Divide every three to four years by digging up plant clumps and cutting into large sections with a spade. Supply plants with at least an inch of water every week or so if rain is lacking. In the fall when the succulent leaves of Stonecrops have died back, cut back the spent flowering stems all the way to the ground. Seed heads can also be left on to provide winter interest.1

Will remain evergreen in warmer climates.2

Try to plant in a location that enjoys full sun and remember to apply water fairly sparingly. Dragon's Blood is generally regarded as a very hardy plant, so this plant will tend to survive through freezing conditions.
