Chinese money plant is a plant which belongs to the Pilea genus.

This houseplant Looks a whole lot like others in the Pennywort/Gotu Kola family, but with larger, glossier, foliage.
This plant is originally from the yunnan region of China. Brought to Kew Gardens about 1906 by Forest but material was archived in Scotland.
This same plant was also brought to Scandinavia by a missionary to China around 1946, and passed along in families and to friends until it was grown widely across Europe.

Chinese money plant grows as a perennial and is a flowering houseplant. Being a perennial plant, it tends to grow best over several years (approx 3 years and greater).

As Chinese money plant is a low maintanence plant, it is great for beginner gardeners and those that like gardens that don't need much overseeing.
