Keep in mind when planting that Piquillo is thought of as tender, so it is really important to plant out well after your last frost date. Ideally plant in potting mix, loamy and silty soil and try to keep the ph of your soil between the range of 5.5 and 7.5 as Piquillo likes to be in weakly acidic soil to weakly alkaline soil.

Growing Piquillo from seed

Sow at a depth of approx. 0.25 inches (0.64 cm) and aim for a distance of at least 0.98 inches (2.5 cm) between Sweet pepper plants. Soil temperature should be kept higher than 20°C / 68°F to ensure good germination.

By our calculations, you should look at sowing Piquillo about 60 days before your last frost date.
